UNLI World Education Program (UWEP)

UNLI World Education Program (UWEP) is a cost-effective alternative to traditional university programs. UWEP is not an exchange program and it is primarily an educational program. The goal is not travel in the interest of travel. The goal is education via movement and exposure.

We provide a context and structure but the format of the application is flexible. Like traditional university studies, it is up to the student how much they will get out of the program. It is required for students to submit a copy of their anticipated self-study syllabi and travel path with their application.

International Program Length Requirements

The international program is focused on increasing cultural empathy and divergent creativity. It is recommended that students to transition to a new place every 8 to 21 days. There is no specific requirement for the international program, but if your plan is to consistently go to a new city every 2-3 days then your application will require significant justification to be approved.

Regional Degree Length Requirements

The regional degree program will grant you a degree in a specific place. For example a 2-Year San Diego Region Degree. You may choose the title of the area but your EduPath must be representative of that area. Previous experience may be considered for a total of 180 days, 1 target city, and 3 neighborhoods (opt.1 & opt.2) or up to 9 neighborhoods (opt.3). There is a strict limit of 500km for the radius of your research area. Exceptions must be justified in your application.

Total Program Costs

The total program cost is often much cheaper than studying at university. Of course, it depends on the specifics of your plan, but the average cost is $17,660. With some work and careful budgeting it is definitely possible to create a plan for as low as $9,000 per year.

Comparative Programs Tuition Per Year Cost of Living Total Costs
Canadian University $4,939 $16,425 $21,364
Japanese University $5,229 $17,731 $22,960

You can use UNLI TravelPlan to estimate the cost of your program and plan your research locations.

Learning Outcomes and Designation Requirements

In order to be certified or graduate from the program, you must start your EduPath within 3 weeks of your intended start date. Any papers submitted more than 6 weeks after the original end date will be accepted (and potentially published) but they will not count toward the designation requirements of your certificate or degree.

Application

Applicants are strongly encouraged to create Syllabi and a well-thought out EduPath before applying. If you submit incomplete documents then your application will be rejected and the application fee will not be refunded.
